Come home to the in-between — a place to belong and become

a little bit about me…
Hello! My name is Francesca Bolastig. I’m twenty years old and call three places home: the Philippines, Colorado, and now New York City. On the surface, it sounds grounding to belong to three places at once. In truth, it often feels like I’m caught in the in between, belonging everywhere yet never fully at home anywhere.
This blog is my way of exploring that tension. Moving between cultures and communities has often meant living with an identity crisis — the quiet questions that surface in every new setting: Where do I truly fit? Which version of myself feels most real? In one place, I am seen as too foreign; in another, it feels as if I’ve left too much of myself behind. At times, holding pieces of different homes is less like belonging everywhere and more like carrying a puzzle with no finished picture in sight.
And yet, perhaps identity isn’t about choosing a single “perfect” home at all. It may be less about arriving somewhere fixed and more about learning to hold contradictions, to weave together fragments of different places, and to create a sense of belonging in the spaces in between.
By sharing my writings and reflections here on A Place to Land, I hope to make sense of my own journey while also creating something that resonates with you. Whether you’ve crossed oceans, moved between communities, or wrestled with questions of identity and belonging, this is a space to pause, reflect, and perhaps recognize yourself in another’s story. Above all, I hope this space feels like a home for your story, too.
